The Will Of My Father

Matthew7:21"Not everyone that saith Lord, Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of Heaven; But he that doeth the will of my father which is in Heaven."

In these uncertain times, people are flocking to religion faster than ever before. Religion is now one of the fastest growing organized groups in the world today, but God is not mocked. With all of the self promoting, self centered, and self serving ministries which have begin to replace the Church of God, God is not mocked. The replacing of his glorious Gospel which was once used to convict hearts and convert souls, now replaced with a motivational speech designed to line the pocket and fill the pews, but God is not mocked.

Jesus said" I am the good Shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine". So be not deceived God is not mocked, Not everyone professing Christ is genuinely saved.(now I'm not saying that you are or not saved, this is a self examination between you and God.)It's not enough to say Lord Lord, if that on the inside don't match what is being portrayed on the outside. In that great getting up morning, many will say" have we not prophesied in thy name"," In your name didn't we cast out devils", Christ knows the heart and it's intent, and in that day the secrets of the hearts will be revealed.Having a good reputation among church folks, or doing good deeds will not hide from him our pride, self-righteousness, our worldliness, greed, or our sensuality, neither will it get us into heaven.

Jesus will say in that day "depart from me, I never Knew You"(his words not mine).Jesus knows his own, he knows them from their repentance, from them seeking his face, his grace, his mercy, and his forgiveness. He knows them from the love they have one to another. He knows them through their prayer as they cry out to him with a contrite heart, seeking his salvation. Remember no matter what all who was not in the ark of Noah when the floods came died. So are you in the ark of safety of the Lord Jesus?

Are You A Christian? Really!

Acts 11:26 " And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people, and the disciple were called Christians first in Antioch."

Are you a Christian? Many profess to be like Christ, but do others call you a Christian or is it a name you give yourself. Does the life you show the world reflect the content, character, love, caring, and purpose of Christ? Are you a Christian because it's what your talk says or is it what your walk displays.

There is a responsibility which comes with professing to be Christ like. Paul says we blaspheme the name of God to the gentiles, by the way we live our lives. We can't profess to like one with all power then live a powerless life. We must be careful as we walk professing to be made free from sin and yet continue to live a life full of sin. Jesus said He has all power, even power over all flesh, yet we live a defeated life as we surrender to the weakness of the flesh instead of holding to the willingness of the spirit.

The scripture says that Barnabus was a good man, full of the Holy ghost and of faith, it tell us that Barnabas, and Saul(Paul) came to Antioch. they assembled themselves to the church and taught the people. So this tells me that a Christ like person is a good person, full of the holy spirit and a person of faith who teaches others and is a part of the church. Ask yourself, is this the person the world sees in you?

Still Saving

John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God ,which taketh away the sin of the world."
One day when I was lost ,Jesus died upon a cross, to take away the sin of the world. He saved me; God took on the image of man, that man might once again be made in the image of God. He took on my image, endured my punishment and suffered my death, to take away my sin. Behold the Lamb of God.

Jesus died to free us from sin not in our sin. We must look too the Lamb of God that we might be saved. What must truly look to Him when we fall into divers temptations, for Jesus said "I have power over all flesh". Jesus and Jesus alone has the power to make the flesh behave. It is when we walk in the spirit of Christ that we don't give in to the lust, will and desires of the flesh. John tells us why we must look to Him, he says "which taketh away the sin of the world". Notice sin is singular, the sin that started all this was mans unbelief of God's word, which lead to man's disobedience to God's word. When man obeys God man is without sin, it is our disobedience to God that opens the door to all the evil of this world.Jesus is the only way man can be obedient to God.

Now I'm not saying you will never have sin in your life. The flesh is full of sin, and you have to carry it where ever you go. But think of it like a bottle full of whiskey, you can have it in your pocket, but as long as you don't open it and drink of it, you won't get drunk. Look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Can You Hear Him Now

Matthew 11:28 "And when she had so said, she went her way,and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come and calleth for thee".

Do you hear Him? God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son to save us and so that we could have everlasting life with Him. Now He is calling you to accept this free gift of salvation. Calling you out of a life of sorrow, death and despair into a life of peace, Joy, and happiness. Do you hear the call?

His call is a personal call, He is calling you by name. He is calling you to Himself,"come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"is His call. It is a call to peace, so cast all of your cares upon Him for He cares for you. It is a call to a guilt free conscience as he calls you to a full pardon from sin into a new life with Him. He is calling you through His word, for it is a call of faith, and faith comes by hearing . He is calling you to confess your sins for He is faithful and just to forgive your sins. He is calling you to repent of your sins that you might experience a new birth, and have a Holy life an abundant life. He is calling you to live an eternal life with Him in a prepared place, prepared just for you. Jesus is calling you, do you hear His call.

He is calling you because He wants to save you soul, He is calling you from your sorrows, from death, calling you out of darkness into His marvelous light. He is speaking to your heart, He is calling you. Can you hear Him now?

All About Christ

1Corinthians 2:2 " For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified".
Everything God  wanted to say to man, he said with Jesus. Everything God wanted to give to man ,he gave it through Jesus. Everything man needs, lies within Jesus, He is our everything. There is enough in Jesus Christ to serve us all.

Paul tells us in our text that nothing else matters but Christ and him crucified. The fancy titles we give ourselves don't matter. The size of our congregations don't matter, our denomination don't matter. The Pastor or Bishop you sit up under doesn't matter, the only thing that matter is Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Man was lost in sin on his way to hell, God stepped out of eternity into time, wrapped the best part of Him in the worst part of man, and accepted for man the wage paid by sin. Jesus, whipped for our transgressions, and hung on a cross where he suffered, bled and died, that we might live. Then he rose with all power in his hands that we might walk in a newness of life, if we only believe. So let our conversation be about Jesus Christ and him crucified.

All the spiritual blessings wherewith the Church is enriched are in and by Christ. Our election is by him, as he chose us ;our adoption is by him, our redemption and remission of sins are both through Him. All the gracious transactions between God and his people are through Christ. God loves us through Christ; He hears our prayers through Christ; He forgives us all our sins through Christ. Through Christ he justifies us; through Christ he sanctifies us; through Christ he upholds us; through Christ he perfects us. In Him is our salvation. It is Christ and Him Crucified...

From Everlasting to Everlasting

Exodus 34:6 "And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth."

The sun rose today on a largely selfish, wicked humanity. God's gifts of life, strength, provision and salvation were freely doled out to the evil and the good. Laughter and enjoyment flowed, while new flowers bloomed and birds soared. And these are just a few of the demonstrations of God's steadfast love, His faithfulness, and His longsuffering for his creation. It rains on the just and the unjust.

Nothing we will experience on earth can compare to the mountain top experience of Moses as he talked to God and experienced his glory. As God passed near Moses again He emphasized His love and forgiveness. Through their worship of the golden calf and the activities that followed, the children of  Israel broke many of the commandments they had recently received and promised to obey. In response, the Lord told Moses of his love and capacity to forgive wickedness, rebellion and sin. That was extremely good news for the people who needed His forgiveness and restoration. It is still good news today as God is still expressing that capacity today, for all who seek him.

Look around you, see the evidence of God's faithfulness and goodness, His mercy and His patience. Feel the clothes on your back, the bible in your hand. Smell the coffee or the food being prepared in the kitchen Consider the church you enter every Sunday with the freedom to have safe Christian fellowship. Not because we were so good, but because God is that Good, His mercy is from everlasting to everlasting, and He loves us just that much.

Behold The Man

John 19:5 "Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!"

"I am the door, by me if any man enters in he shall be saved. Here we have the greatest event ever recorded in history. A night when the world witnessed the evil in man , and beheld the love of God. A night when the sin of mankind came face to face with the salvation of the world, when all was revealed as they beheld the man. It was the night they crucified my savior.

This precious lamb of God shedding his blood for the remission of sin, so man could be reconciled back to God. Jesus perfecting his glorious body, preparing a people for his prepared place. Jesus the love of God ,giving us the word of God that we might be led by the spirit of God. A perfect sacrifice for an imperfect people, a lamb without spot and or blemish, taking on the sins of the world; Jesus making himself a curse that we might be free from the curse. "Behold the man " whipped for our transgressions, and bruised for our iniquities. "Behold the man" being led from judgment hall to judgment hall, as they search in him for sins that lied within me." Behold the  man" marched up Golgotha's hill, bering the sins of the world  on his shoulders, he who knew no sin , made to bear our sin that we might have eternal life. Oh Saints behold the man." Behold the man", hung high between heaven and earth, like he is unworthy or either, but the creator of both. "Behold the man" in the mist of two thieves, separating the old man from the new." Behold the man", Gods word made flesh, mans healing, deliverance, and his way to salvation.

The work now complete, and Jesus cries with a loud voice, that all the world should hear, a loud voice that his death should be proclaimed out loud to all the world, a loud voice that we may know that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, Jesus cried with a loud voice and gave up the Ghost. Behold the man, Jesus, Gods mercy on fallen man,  Gods perfect plan of salvation.....

What Money Can't Buy

1 Timothy 6:17 " Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high minded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in  the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;"

Money, money, money, oh the love of money is the root of all evil. People do many things for the monetary riches that it promises to bring. Many have jobs they can't stand because it pays a lot. We might marry people we don't truly love because of the money they make. Then many begin to think more highly of themselves because of what they think they have.

The bible tells us contentment with God is great gain. Do you truly trust God to do just what He said?
Why then do we prostitute our selves out doing things and being with people just for the promise of monetary gain, and then look down our noses at those with less than what we have. God tell us that He will give richly to all that are His all things for them to enjoy. Don't you know that the earth is the Lords and the fullness there of. Did you not know the silver and gold belongs to Him. So those of you who think you have it going on, the bible tells us to tell you don't get hung up on what you think you have, don't put your trust in uncertain riches, put you trust in the Lord, for he never fails.

We work so hard trying to be the haves and not the have knots, But if we seek first the kingdom of God, we will also be part of the haves. When you have Jesus, you truly have everything you will ever need

God's Unchanging Hand

Luke 24:50 "And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them".

Jesus having spoiled the plans of the grave, and sanctified the earth, now purified the air as he passed through it on His way to heaven. The earthly work of the Redeemer is over; the work which his time on earth was designed to inaugurate is now ready to begin. Here we are in the presence of the one who said" All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth"; and again," Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world". He he is reaching out with blessings in His hands for all who will take hold.

The wonderful hand of Christ! It was that same hand which had been so quickly stretched out to rescue Peter when he was sinking in the waves of the sea, now reaches out for those sinking in sin. It was the same hand which had been shown to the disciples, after they had seen it in the borrowed tomb, and he now wants to show it to you in faith. It was the same hand that doubting Thomas wanted to see before he would believe in the resurrection, and it was extended to him not only to see but to touch the nail prints in the palm, and blessed are the many who will believe and haven't seen. And it is this same hand the disciples last saw uplifted in a parting blessing when the clouds took Him on up to Glory. But it was later that they realized the fullness of blessings which came from the extended pierced hand of Christ.

The blessing in His hands. His hands with it's nail prints now stands at the door of every heart, knocking, with its deep marks of love, seeking all the lost that they might receive the blessing in His hands. Jesus through suffering and death, has the power to bless us out of the highest heavens. The spirit and the bride say come, put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water. There is a blessing in his hands!

Not My Will

Matthew 26:39 "And He went a little farther, and fell on His face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

Prayer, one of the most personal forms of worship, when man is in holy communion with God. Too often many assume prayer is about us telling God what we think He should do. A time spent begging for God to give us things, and over look things we have done. But the truth is prayer is more about what God has to say to us. Prayer is to the spirit man what breathing is to the natural man.

In the garden Jesus prayed a prayer of submission. A prayer that was not about Him and what was best for Him, but a prayer that solely about the will of God." Not my will but thy will be done". How often do we pray that God's will be done with our life. We might pray that His will is done in our life, but what about His will being done with our life. A prayer of submission, to totally surrender to God that he might do with you as He will. Are you willing to go through all that is before you, in order to become and receive all that God has for you?

Here is Jesus on the last night of His life and He prays that God's will be done. It wasn't the beating, mocking, suffering and certain death that lay ahead, that Jesus agonized over, no for this purpose He came into the world, no Jesus agony was in the impending separation from the Father that was before Him. Yet He said not my will but thy will be done. Jesus prayed for total submission to the will of the Father that we might have our life. Will you pray to submit totally to the will of God that he might use you to save another?

At What Cost

Judges 9:9 "But the olive tree said unto them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honor God and man, and go to be promoted over the trees?"

This story teaches us that temptations will come to us all, however sweet, useful, or fruitful, these temptations may take the shape of friendly honors as they came to the fig, the olive, and the vine. The trees were under God's government and wanted no king; but in this story they "went forth", and so quitted their true place. Then they sought to be like men, forgetting that God had not made them to be conformed to a fallen race. Revolting themselves, they strove to win over those better trees which had remained faithful. No wonder they chose the olive, so rich and honored; for it would give their kingdom respectability to have such a king; but the olive wisely declined, and gave its reason.

The question to be asked, " should I". Many to obtain a higher wage, have left holy companionships and sacred opportunities for hearing the word and growing in grace. Many have lost their soul-feeding ministry, to be part of their own self serving agenda. Such persons are foolish as the poor Indians who gave up gold for beads. To gain riches at the cost of your soul is always a curse. To increase your business so that you cannot attend weekly night services, is to become really poorer. To give up heavenly pleasure, and receive earthly cares in exchange is a sorry trade. Don't get so caught up, that you think the calling and vocation to which God has called you to is a small insignificant calling. God's will is the best calling you can have, to be faithful to it is better than any treasure the world could offer. God often places great blessing in little things, after all it just take the faith the size of a mustard seed to open all the riches of heaven.

In our story a set of trees wanted a king and they went to the olive tree seeking a king, but the olive tree was content with the position which God have given it, to be honored and serve both God and man .We too are in a position to serve both God and man, let us be content with God and wait on him to give the increase, for what profit a man to gain the whole world..............

The Gift Has Been Offered

John 19:30 "When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said "It is Finished: and he bowed his head and gave up the ghost".

The single most significant event in history is the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. We are saved by His death; because he died we can live. However there is a condition, we must believe. In Jesus death, justice received the wage paid by sin, for the soul that sinneth, shall surely die. Someone had to die and Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for an imperfect people. Because of our sin, He died.

Jesus died that all might have a right to the tree of life, but we must believe and receive His death as our own that we might be raise up as a new creature in Christ. Let us walk in this new life that a lost world will come to know what we already know; He died and rose with all power in heaven and earth in His hands. He has power over all flesh, yes Jesus can make your flesh behave. Jesus came to pay the price for man's salvation, He died that we might live. John said "Behold the lamb of God who taketh away the sin of the world". The purpose for Jesus birth, death, and His glorious resurrection was to set man free from sin and the guilt of sin.

He said from the cross, it is finished, there is nothing else God is going to do. Salvation has been offered, now you must ask yourself the question; Will you receive this gift which is so freely offered

Let Him Be Seen In You

John 12:32 " And I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me".

Here is the glorious invitation to all mankind, to come to the Lord and be saved. Here is God calling His people to assemble themselves together from among the ways of this world and lift up Jesus that those in darkness might be drawn to His marvelous light. His desire is that all turn from sin and return unto Him. He is both a just God and a willing Savior to all who will come. Here we have the way for all to come, If we lift up Jesus, that will draw all men unto Him. He and He alone is God's perfect plan of salvation .

Jesus said and I, if I be lifted up from the earth will draw all men unto me. When we elevate Christ,   lost soul will be saved. It is the lifting up of Christ that saves. We can't just talk about how good God is we must live like He is good. Our whole life must be one that elevates the goodness of God over the trials and tribulations of this world. Remember Jesus tells us to be of good cheer, for He has overcome the world. We lift up Christ by walking in a manner which brings Him glory. Living a life that professes He has all power, even over the will of the flesh. This is when we let our lights so shine, that those in darkness will see and glorify our Father which is in heaven.

Many profess Christ but few really put Him on display in their lives. It is easy to tell someone how they should live ,but God is calling us to show others how to live a life pleasing unto Him. A life complete with self denial and sacrifice. Let all who profess Christ, lift Him up in our walk that we might lead lost souls to the salvation of the Lord.

The Greatest Love Of All

John 15:13 " Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

What manner of love is this that one should die for the same ones who seek to put Him to death, yet that is what Jesus did. He died that we might live, yet there are many who still refuse to surrender their lives to Him.

Jesus died on a cross for the sin of the world, rose the third day morning with all power in His hands that we might love others the way He has loved us. Now remember He loved us while we were yet sinners, ungodly, enemies of God, for Christ died for the ungodly. Like Hosea, God redeemed us back after sin had destroyed the once good thing created in the image and likeness of God. He laid down His life that all who believe could have an abundant life in paradise with Him and the Father.

Jesus proved His love for us, now we must prove our love for Him. Is He your friend? Have you laid down your life that you might live in His life? Have you laid down your life, have you put to death the lust and desires of the old man that your new man might lead a lost soul to the salvation of the Lord. Share the good news of Christ with someone today, be blessed, and a blessing .

Love Is A Two Way Street

John 14:15 " If  you love me, keep my commandments".
"Yes Jesus loves me cause the bible tells me so". Yes we all know that God loves us, "for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son ,that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life". But I ask the question do you truly love Him? With our lips we do honor Him, but it seems that our hearts sometimes are far from Him. We tend to live our lives based on His love for us, more than our love for Him.
If we love Jesus,we will keep His commandments. Obedience is not optional for believers. Jesus stated a simple fact that must be clearly understood. He said "If  you love me you will keep my commandments . Jesus is not giving an optional commandment,"If you love me then (optional)keep my commandments. He is saying that the man who truly loves Him will keep His commandments. So for the born again believer there is no option. He loves Jesus; so he keeps His commandments. In this the believer is not claiming perfection, but he/she is claiming to love Jesus and to believe with all their heart that Jesus is the Son of God. Therefore we must diligently seek Jesus, and seek to please Him in all that we do. Now we might disobey His commandments at times, but it will be a choice we make and not a shortcoming in His commands, for He said His burdens are light.

To Love Jesus is not an emotional thing. It involves emotions but it is not based on emotions. It doesn't change according to the situation. It is not a rational or mental commitment. It involves the mind but it is more than deciding and following some rules. To love Jesus is a matter of the heart and the spirit. It is a heart thing, from the innermost being of man.

In Jesus Alone

1 Thessalonians 5:9 "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ".
We should take a examination of ourselves and our walk with Jesus Christ. Has Christ's love made any difference in our lives? Does being in a community led by the Holy spirit mean anything to you? Do you really have a caring heart? Let us agree with each other, love each other, be one in spirit, and focus on the same goals. Christ is a model in living an obedient life, a life that puts others needs ahead of our own.

A Christian is someone who professes a belief that Jesus is the Son of God. In addition, he or she has made a commitment to be like Christ. To be united with Christ means to be one with Jesus, and is a statement of a Christian's partnership with Jesus in communicating to others, what Jesus is like. The hearts and action of Christians are to be the same as that of Jesus Christ. Included in the attitude that should characterize the lives of Christians, are tenderness, compassion, unity of spirit, love and a desire to serve others. What should be absent are selfish ambitions and vain conceit. God understands that doing these things will not be easy. But neither was Jesus' journey to the cross. Jesus was obedient to death knowing that his sacrifice would ultimately result in restoring man's broken relationship with God. God wants Christians to be obedient to the same degree, knowing that this will fulfill His purpose for our lives and work out or finish what was started when we first put our faith in Jesus.

Being one with Christ should result in a desire to be like Christ. This in turn should lead to a commitment to be obedient. The result should be a life that reflects Christ character, one where our attitude and actions are a good reflection on God. Like Noah's ark, there is only one  door into salvation, and that door is Jesus, and only those inside Christ spiritual body, His Church, will be saved when the flood of judgment comes. For Salvation is in Jesus and Jesus alone.

Pay Day Is Coming

1 Corinthians 15:58 " Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, un-moveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord".

Sometime as we walk this lonely uphill road, we often ask ourselves what is the use. But let us not be discouraged, serving the Lord will pay off after while.

Here Paul tells us to be stead fast and un moveable in the work of the Lord. We must trust that God will do all He promises to do. It is not our job to convert, or even save, we are just laborers in the harvest field planting and watering, it is God who will give the increase. We must trust we are not working in vain.

Jesus is coming back and the word says He will have His reward in His hand, so stay faithful to your calling and true to His word and let God be God.

Always and Forever

Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever".

There is not much we can depend on in this me myself and I world of today. Everybody makes promises but when it come time to deliver you are often left in the cold. But the word of God tells us Jesus Christ , the same yesterday, today, and forever. Jesus never changes and He never fails.

If there is nothing else to believe in , you can believe in and trust the word of God. His promises will be fulfilled. He is not a man that He should lie. If you want something firm to hold to that will be there through thick or thin, not only there but will go out front and stand before you, hold to the word of God. It is bread when you are hungry, water when you thirst, and a shelter in a storm. No matter what the circumstances, God's word will do just what it says. It will heal, aid, comfort, convict, convert, tear down, build up, it will even save and deliver all who calls upon it. Stand strong on His word, enter His rest and rest in His peace, knowing His word will stand forever.

No matter what it is that you might be going through seek comfort in God's word. It says to cast all your cares upon Him for He cares for you. Having done all you can to stand, now stand on the word of God, it will carry you through...

The Blessings Of Obedience

Deuteronomy 30:16 "For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands,  decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess".
Would you like to be in a position to prosper? Well the best position to prosper, is in the obedience to God. The word of God tells us you will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water and in everything you shall prosper.
Many tend to think that a blessing is a material gift or some kind of worldly gain. But the truth is the blessings of God can come in a variety of ways. A peaceful day is a blessing. Waking up in the morning is a blessing, Your family being well is a blessing and even bad news can be a blessing if it leads you to call upon the name of the Lord. Anything which makes you call upon the name of the Lord is a blessing. If you truly want to be in a position to prosper make sure you are in obedience to God.
Here in our text  the man of God is telling the children of Israel to love the Lord, to walk in accordance to His word, and keep His commandment, and they will have life, and they will have increase and they will be blessed of the Lord in the land they enter to possess. As you can see our blessings lie in our obedience to God and His word.

A Covenant Of Love

1Samuel 18:3 "Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul"
.
Jonathan and David made a covenant, because Jonathan loved him. The covenant was made, not so much because of their mutual love, but because Jonathan loved David. Jesus also made a covenant with us, not so much because of our love for him, but because of His love for us." For while we were yet sinners Christ died for us". Jesus was loving toward us. He entered our nature to represent us, and he pledged Himself to redeem us by becoming a sacrifice for us.

Christ and the believer that love Him live as if they have but one soul between them. This is the love we must have one towards another. The Lord will not share us with rival" I am a jealous God". If we accept the salvation of the Lord, all others must go. We belong to Him, giving up all authority to Him, as self has become a dethroned tyrant. Our soul becomes His soul and His spirit becomes our spirit. Our Soul until it comes into the covenant with the Lord, is in a restless state. It is like a bee going from flower to flower or a bird from bush to bush; but when it is married to Christ, it is settled with Him and it rest in perfect peace.

The covenant we have entered into is a offensive and defensive league. We are to have common friends and common enemies with the Lord. His people must be our people, and His enemies our enemies. We have opened our mouth to the Lord and we can't go back. We must be His without end or interruption. There will be stumbling among the best of us, but a renewal of the covenant is the antidote to the poison of backsliding. He who has truly made this covenant with the Lord, has given himself entirely to Christ without reservation, and like Paul has asked, "Lord what will thou have me to do".
