Ephesians 4:21-22 "If so that ye have heard him,and have been taught by him,as the truth is in Jesus: That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man,which is corrupt according to the deceitful lust";
The distinction between the Christian and the church goer:There must be separation as long as the world is the world.We claim to have learned Christ and learned him in a different way from those who simply profess to know him.We have not learned Christ just to profess his name but still practice,and seek out lust and fleshly desires.We have been converted into learners and are under the tutelage of the Holy Spirit.
Our lesson is to learn Christ, to know him as our personal savior,to know his nature,to know his office, to know His finished work he was sent to do,to know him in a way live like him.We must learn the truth of him ,putting off the old conversations, the traditions of man, and the nature of the old man.Not wolves in sheep clothing, but true sheep with the nature of Christ, as the nature of the new man begins to reign in our lives.It is the old man the old nature which causes all the evil in our lives.Until you put off the old man it is impossible to reform or convert. But many have not learned,so they stay unchanged and yet are at peace with sin.They feel free to sin because of the pardon Jesus provided.They excuse sin because of Christ atonement.They even commit sin in the name of Christ.They don't believe sin can be conquored in their lives so they accept it as a way of life.They profess reverence for his name and character yet think little of the truth which it reveals.
We walk by the faith of God's word,and must proclaim the truth of His word. We must walk in the nature of the new man putting to death daily the lust and desire of the old man and his nature.We must deny ourselves daily,putting down our wants ,thoughts, feeling,agenda's,and prejudices,that we might carry out the will of God for our lives and the lives of those he places in front of us.We profess to know him, thus we profess to know better so let us do better, for knowing him we know the truth so let us not get caught up living the lies of the Devil.
When you profess Christ it is more than just words, you are saying to the world in all that you do that "I'm like Christ".So if you know better ,do better.
