Life For The Lifeless

John 11:25 "Jesus said unto her,I am the resurrection, and the life:He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live."

Mary and Martha were upset that Jesus did not come immediately to help Lazarus when they sent for Him.They knew that Jesus could save their brother,if he would only come before he died. While they believed in Jesus, they could not understand His hesitation in helping them.Their pain was almost unbearable for them, and they needed Jesus as much as a dying Lazarus did.

All Mary and Martha could see was their grief; they had no joy left in their lives. However, if it had not been for this major crises they may never have seen Jesus as the Son of God and fully realized His resurrection power. Not only did Jesus physical life back to Lazarus,He gave Mary and Martha a new hope and story to tell others. This crisis became a victory because Jesus gave everyone,Mary, Martha and Lazarus new life.Sometimes we are guilty of thinking just like Mary and Martha. When we are facing a major crisis in our lives, like a death of a loved one or a loss of a job,and the very life seems to have been sucked out of us,we want Jesus to come and make everything better, and now.We wonder why He has not intervened and helped us.We can even feel abandoned by Him in the time we think we need Him most.

It is during these times we need to remember that Jesus is the resurrection power and that He will bring new life.It won't happen when we think the time is right, but it will happen when Jesus knows the time is right.
