I need Thee!

Isaiah 40:29" He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength."

Acknowledging our needs is just a first step on our way to receiving the strength and comfort God has for us.Once we reconize our need for God,we can bring our needs to him, trusting that He hears us and will answer us.Then we must wait patiently, knowing He will provide all that we need right when we need it.

In our culture, even within the church, there is a notion that we must be or become strong people. It is a virtue to be self-sufficient,able to do most everything for ourselves. However, the bible points again and again to our need for God.It tells us to be strong in the Lord and the power of his might. The apostle Paul, who was no wimp by worldly standards, said that he rejoiced in his weakness because, when he was weak, the power of Christ rested on him and worked powerfully in and through him.

Paul understood that our true state of being is one of unending need for God's comfort and strength in this life.It may sound harsh to say so,but we are decieved or deluded if we think otherwise.Everything we have comes from God;we may imagine that it is our savvy or our wits or our good looks that have secured some benifit or blessing for us in life. But even if this is true,God has given us our abilities and strengths in the first place, and he could take them away if he so choose to.Every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord.

He is the true vine and we are but branches, everything we have comes from God,and everything we need,God has for us.The real question is :Are we willing to be honest about our needs, and especially about the nature of our specific needs right now?God is not stingy with his comfort and strength for those who know they need these provisions, and those who will receive them humbly and gratefully.God can be counted on, to give his children strength during times of tribulation and weakness. With such a great Lord we have nothing to fear,he has the power and ability to deliever us out of any difficulty we might face. Oh Lord  I need thee every hour I need thee!
