The Good Way!

Jeremiah 6:16 "Thus saith the Lord,Stand ye in the ways,and see and ask for the old paths,where is the good way,and walk therein,and ye shall find rest for your souls.But they said, We will not walk therein".

Remember the old ways?It is the distinguishing feature of the good old ways that we find rest for our souls.Rest is what is promised from our Savior,it is the point to which the law failed,just as Moses couldn't lead the people into canaan, neither can the works of the law lead us into the rest promised us by God.In the Good way we find rest if we walk in it.We walk by faith in the gospel way and are rested.The good way, the way which our sins are pardon by the atonement made available by the shed blood of our savior,as it gives rest to the conscience.By trusting our affairs with God, the good way gives rest to our mind.By our obedience to His word, the good way gives rest to our souls.The good way, our communion with Christ gives rest to the heart.The old way is the good way because Jesus is the way.

It is called the good way.It is not the easy way:the idle and the foolish ask for easy, but it is not the good way.Neither is it the popular way,for there is few that will find it.But it is the good way, made by a good God, in infinite goodness to his creatures;paved by our good Lord Jesus suffering, and shed blood. It is the way of holiness, of peace,of safety, and it leads to heaven.It is the narrow road, the good way, a path that His word gives light to,it is lined with His commands and statues, and made straight by His
righteousness.Not only is it the good way, it is the only way to the promised rest of the Lord.

In this good way you shall find rest like you have never known before.Joy shall be upon your head,peace shall prepare the place for your feet.Rest for the conscience comes to those who enter God's way of salvation; rest of the heart arises out of our love to him who is the way; rest of the brain from our acceptance of His teaching; rest of desire from our satisfaction with his person,for he is all and in all, in a word,the soul rest in all His powers and promises.Let us lay aside all anxious cares ,for he cares for us.We invite all those who are laboring in the easy way, or the bad way, and the popular way ,to come and try the good way, try the Lord Jesus and see if he don't give you rest once and for ever.Try the "Good Way" Try Jesus he never fails
